White/Male Privilege?

Image
Privilege is a sort of invisible label unconsciously placed on people for various reasons. The most prominent forms of this is "white privilege" and "male privilege": the notions that because one is white they automatically are placed higher on a list than those who are non-white, and one's being a male gives one priority over those who are female. "White Privilege" The concept of white privilege is pretty much un-biblical. The only time we see any type of racial privilege is God's blessings upon the Israelites as his chosen people, but this by no means implies that he doesn't love other races as well. The Lord favored people for their faithfulness to him, not based on where they came from. And though the Israelites had favor in the eyes of the Lord, not only were they not the only ones God poured blessings on, they weren't even white! The Value of All People

Introduction

Hi there, My name is Katie Bettison and I am super passionate about my beliefs! In this blog I will be examining several social, societal, and gender issues that we may find in our modern world and look at them through the lens of the Bible and its history. Whether you are religious or not, you're probably aware that the Bible has something to say about pretty much any topic you can think of, plus more that you can't. Ever wondered what exactly the Bible says about gender equality, homosexuality, and abortion? Then you're in the right place! And of course, as I am only one human being, if you happen to see any flaws in my research or have something relevant to add, I would love input on any of the subjects presented! Katie
